FR Kraken Slab

FR Kraken Slab is a mild-mannered monster of a typeface - built on a sturdy skeleton, defined by distinctive features, and shaped by a powerful personality.

Like a portrait of an old friend drawn from memory, FR Kraken Slab captures and reimagines the essence of a familiar style. Developed in eight styles between 2013 and 2018, this thunderous and fresh slab serif design is inspired by the raw energy of 19th century English antiques. Rather than replicating a specific historical model, the typeface channels the spirit of the period - offering a contemporary interpretation that goes beyond mere reproduction.

This won a TDC Award in 2019.
