Semafor is a custom type family for the Hungarian Museum of Transport. Commissioned by the Hungarian Museum of Transport through Diller Scofidio + Renfro in 2021, Semafor is a bespoke type family rooted in historical reference and reimagined for modern use. The collection comprises eight stylistically distinct fonts, each drawing inspiration from a 1906 railway timetable discovered in the museum’s archive. Rather than replicating historical typefaces, the designs reinterpret their essence—preserving the original spirit while embracing a contemporary aesthetic.
